What is Worship? This Sunday

If you’re not a “churchy” person you may not know what worship is. Worship is used for so many things churchy people may not even fully understand it. We say worship is what happens on Sunday… we call the music worship… we use worship as a very generic label for a lot of things. But what is worship?
Worship is how you approach God.
If you are approaching God through music – focusing on His goodness, grace, etc. then music becomes the means through which you approach God and is worship.
If you are approaching God by listening to a message, taking notes, reading your Bible, etc. then those activities become worship.
Whether you are serving someone by giving them a ride, making a cup of coffee, cleaning the church so others don’t focus on the mess, greeting people in the parking lot, tithing (giving a 10th of your income to God through the local church) if you are doing it for God it’s called worship.
